Hello Again

Sorry to take so long between posts but there hasn't been anything to report. Things are moving too slowly for my liking but I have to be patient.

Anyway, yesterday I had another colonoscophy. This was done by the surgeon, Chris Smith, he is a nice guy and instills confidence in me. He talked to Sharon and I after and indicated that this is a very complicated surgery, very serious indeed, but he believes it is doable. During the surgery he may have to change plan as he sees fit, this could include the possibility of a colostomy. At this point, whatever it takes I am willing to do. He is hoping that he can avoid this as it is such a change to lifestyle. I am eager to get this heavy surgery done so I can begin the process of recovery but right now I don't know when it could be. If radiation is not recommended, it could be within two weeks.

Sharon has been a great advocate for me, calling the Bliss Center until today she was able to get the appointment with the radiation oncologist moved from August 2nd to July 18th ( Tues ) and an appointment with the medical oncologist ( chemo ) on July 24th.

Meanwhile, for me, life goes on. Adrienne and Jennifer are super supportive, and I know how hard it is on them too. Sharon and I are just carrying on as normal. I am still very calm and very seldom do I even think about it. As Buddy Wasisname said "I put it out of me mind"....lol !

Again, I am overwhelmed by your kindness and thoughtful actions. I always knew what a great family and great friends I had but in a time like this it is demonstrated day after day. Thank you all again dear friends.

Hello my friends, I hope you are all doing well and enjoying life. Enjoy each and every day. I have had quite the past 10 months, nightmarish! On October 13th, I wrote about the recovery ahead... When I was discharged from St Clare's I was not put on any antibiotic which in retrospect was a big mistake in my opinion as it was not determined beforehand the existence or not of an infection. In fact, it was still very existent and without an antibiotic at home my body had nothing really with which to fight it. I should note that Sharon had asked the surgeon for oral antibiotics but was told they were not necessary. June 23, 2017 Two Weeks In

Hi Everyone, Sorry I have been so long between posts but I am really still waiting for the data to be gathered. Sharon was talking to Dr Felix this morning and the CT scan shows there is some Lymph Node involvement but no spread to the liver, which I am to interpret as being on the good side of news. The results of the biopsies are still not back, seems like a long time but what do I know! Hopefully they will be back next week and I will have a meeting with the surgeon soon. Otherwise life goes on as normal! I have been spending time with Adrienne and Jennifer, they have been excellent, in touch with their dad every day. Sharon and I have been carrying on as normal, and I must say, that at this point, I feel really calm about it all ( you never know how you will react until it hits you ), I sleep well every night, I do not dwell or think about it much at all, whatever is going to happen is going to happen....it's out of my hands and I have 110% confidence in our health system

N E W S ! ! !

                                                                        N E W S !!!!! My last post was not uplifting, to say the least. Despite the fact I have a long recovery ahead, I did receive some positive news yesterday! I received a call from my radiation oncologist, Dr. Stuckless. It was basically a follow-up call to see how I was doing, also I had radiation in August. She did not know how sick I had gotten, but she was saddened when she brought it all up on her screen. However, she really called to go over the pathology report from my original surgery. Basically : the cancer was gone                  nothing found in the nodes or in surrounding organs                  the cancer to the right was actually insitu ( i.e. pre-cancerous )                  the cancer to the left was early stage                   she informed me that based on the clean pathology report she did not think that chemo                       would be of any added benefit to me Y
